If you love taking on the wild outdoors, you will love the 2020 Ford Raptor. The Raptor’s beefy tires, powerful engine, and unique off-road perks allow you to go anywhere your heart desires. Read on to learn about the impressive off-road features of the 2020 Ford F-150 Raptor.
Exterior Features
The 2020 F-150 Raptor is built to take on any terrain. The Raptor is equipped with 17-inch cast-aluminum wheels and huge all-terrain tires. The Raptor is built with a wider body than the standard F-150 to provide better handling and stability. Heavy-duty skid plates on the front and engine protect your undercarriage on difficult terrain. Flared front fenders and flared pickup box outers protect the truck from flying debris. An optional twin-panel moonroof on the Raptor’s SuperCrew cab allows all passengers to enjoy the sky.
Interior Features
The cabin of the Ford Raptor is designed to keep both driver and passengers comfortable. A 4.2-inch productivity screen allows drivers to keep tabs on vital engine statistics. Every Raptor is equipped with SYNC 3, which includes Bluetooth connectivity, voice command, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and an 8-inch touch screen display. A 110-volt, 400-watt power inverter located on the center instrument panel allows you to power accessories, floodlights, and power tools. The flow-through center console includes lots of storage options as well as two 12-volt power points.
The Raptor provides comfortable, roomy seats with easy-clean cloth upholstery. The rear seat is a 60/40 flip-up to allow extra in-cabin storage or workspace. Heated front and rear seats are available.
Engine and Performance
The Raptor is equipped with a powerful engine capable of handling the roughest terrain. The Raptor’s standard engine is a 24-valve, 450-horsepower, 3.5-liter twin-turbo high-output EcoBoost that produces a whopping 510 pound-feet of torque. The engine is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission shifted via paddle shifters. Four-wheel-drive is standard on the Raptor.
The Raptor includes a unique Trail Control cruise control system specifically designed to handle low-traction, off-road terrain. Trail Control takes care of vehicle acceleration, braking, and changing power needs. All you need to do is set your desired speed and steer. The Raptor also includes unique, high-output, off-road FOX live valve racing Shox in the front and rear. These shocks provide the ultimate in control when driving off-road.
The Raptor also includes Ford’s Terrain Management System. This system includes six drive modes such as normal, sport, slippery, tow/haul, deep snow/sand, Baja, and rock crawl. Even with all the off-road amenities, the Raptor still boasts a combined EPA-rated fuel efficiency of 18 mpg.
Safety Features
Every Raptor is equipped with a suite of advanced air bags. A rearview camera with dynamic hitch assist, AdvancTrac with roll stability control, curve control, automatic high beams, pre-collision assist, and automatic emergency braking are also standard. Ford’s SOS Post-Crash Alert System will help emergency responders find your car in the event of an accident with air bag deployment. The SOS system will automatically flash the lights, honk the horn to draw attention to your vehicle. This can be especially important when your off-road adventures take you far from civilization.
